Why it Won
The winning design was selected for its strong visual concept, thoughtful use of the INX Color Catalog, and clear design story. Judges noted the balance of creativity and execution, along with the design’s shelf impact and color accuracy.
What was the inspiration or marketing strategy for this can’s design?
The inspiration for the can design stemmed from the beer itself—a Dark German-Style Lager—paired with a strategic vision to reach a new audience within a niche subculture.
The next step was an immersive dive into German history and folklore, exploring untapped opportunities among these passionate communities. From this exploration, the idea for a beer inspired by Dungeons & Dragons was born. The concept fuses elements of fantasy with the rich cultural heritage of brewing, creating a narrative that’s both imaginative and grounded. It offers a unique experience that resonates with fans of fantasy and beer alike, blending storytelling with craft in a way that feels fresh, fun, and authentic.
The INX Color Catalog played a big part in the early stages of the design process. Allowing the project to move from black and white sketches into color fairly quickly. It was important to nail the colors down especially since they were homage to German heritage in art and design.
It also needed to stand out on the shelves and pop, so the gold really helps accomplish that by grabbing your attention.
